Positive thinking skills are almost magical. They push you over the top of your problems and enable you to see the good in almost everything, enabling you to find more happiness and joy in your life. But what's the problem? There's always a catch, right? Well, you have to learn how to use the skills and stay with it long enough to form a habit of thinking in a positive manner.
In other words, positive thinking skills will only help you if you apply them across the board in all areas of your life. And you have to think positively in every situation. It takes time to learn to think this way. It takes time to build new habits. It takes time for you to realize the far-reaching results you may want. But immediate results are possible, too, if you start thinking more positively right now.
Get out of your own way and learn to fly. Aligning yourself with your stars will make you happier and more successful. But how can you do that? Simple. Believe that you can lead a happy life by thinking more positively and by living your own life and being comfortable in your own skin. What am I talking about? It's the same thing as doing what you love.
If you're mechanically inclined, then make time for doing what you love -- fixing or building things. Repair engines or gadgets. Whatever makes you happy, do it! Love to draw? Start drawing. Take a course on drawing. Don't have time? Start drawing when you're waiting in line or at the doctor's office. Draw while you're waiting on your car to be repaired. Want to be a lawyer? Start reading about law. Take a prerequisite. Look into law school. Just take the first step. You'll feel better and enjoy your time more. You'll be that much closer to feeling fulfilled.
It's so much fun to apply the power of positive thinking to any problem or hard situation you may face. To find the silver lining in a cloud or to practice hope instead of pessimism when facing the unknown. Positive thinking skills can make the difference between success and failure.
It begins with an attitude. A positive attitude. Let's say you are going to school, but you are dreading it. you just know you'll fail. You just know you'll end up hating all the homework. Okay, you're basically doomed to drop out or do a half-baked job.
But if you look forward to school starting, you have a plan for getting ahead in your courses and staying ahead, you have set aside time for doing homework and writing papers, and you are looking forward to learning so many new things, you have it made in the shade! Now you're ready to succeed.
Start with your best, most positive attitude and you'll make the semester so much easier than if you were to just wing it. So now you've learned the first big positive thinking skill. Start with a great attitude that is predictive of success and joy!
What's next? So far, we've talked about the importance of aligning yourself of flying high and aligning yourself with your lucky stars, or of doing what you love, so the universe can work for you and help you along. If you love to paint, draw, or sculpt, play the guitar, then do it. You don't have to be a pro, just carve out a little time for practicing your favorite activity.
Love to sing? Then sing! Sing in a chorus or choir or sing in the shower. Sing to the cows, I don't care, just sing! You'll be happier. Your brain will love you for it and it'll manufacture so many more endorphins that you'll soon feel like you're taking a magic mood regulator pill.
We've discussed the importance of choosing a positive attitude. Yes, it is a choice you make every day. Get used to choosing a positive attitude about any problem you face and solving that problem will become much easier.
Next, I want you to try reframing bad situations to find a sliver of good in them. Reframing is the magical key to happiness and success, believe me. You just found out you have to move. You don't want to move. You dread all the packing and unpacking, all the extra time and expense, and the necessity of leaving a familiar situation and heading into the unknown! No problem. Simply reframe it and the sooner you get started the better.
Stand on the rooftop of your mind and declare that you can take any bad situation and turn it into a good one. Think of all the reasons that moving might be good for you. Let yourself get excited about the new possibilities. After all, the new place may work out better than the old one, once you get settled in. Making new friends and living in new digs can be exciting! A change will do you good. Your brain will love it, and it will stay energized, instead of going to sleep on you. Look for the assets and the positives and focus your thoughts on those positives, while setting the negatives aside. Now you're in business!
All right now, we've talked about the key to making any situation appear more positive and actually making anything life hurls at you more tolerable. We began with a positive attitude and an expectation that we can succeed in our efforts, and we mentioned the power of aligning with your stars and doing what you love, and then we detailed a strategy for reframing any gloomy situation into a more positive and hopeful situation.
Put the three positive thinking skills together and you are on your way to visiting and living above the clouds and among the stars! All you need to do to get good at developing positive thinking skills is to practice using them. Use them alone or in tandem to make a difference in your life right away. 1-2-3. That's all it takes.
There's no time to wait. No time to think about it. That will encourage you to put it off. Let's get right to the task of changing your life in the 'here-and-now', as Fritz Perls, the brainchild of Gestalt Therapy would say. If you want to get therapy, you can try Positive Thought Therapy (Positive Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), which is a form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Just ask for a therapist who specializes in CBT.
But you may not need therapy. Just work on becoming a more positive thinker by applying these three skills. It's best not to put it off. It's not hard. And there's no better time than now for you to begin learning or finetuning your positive thinking skills.
Here's the formula:
Start with a healthy cup of attitude {right attitude, a positive attitude} then add a cup of do-what-you-love star alignment and combine in a bowl with a cup of reframing know-how and you'll have yourself a magic elixir. An elixir you can use to make yourself feel better, achieve more and get more of what you want in life. Remember: practice makes perfect. So, let's get started practicing our positive thinking skills now!
